It's been three years since the Toyota Land Cruiser was last on the market. Now, the SUV is making a return, and it's a completely redesigned model with better power, tech, and off-road capabilities. The Land Cruiser sits on Toyota's TNGA-F platform as a midsize crossover. It will slot between the smaller 4Runner and larger three-row Sequoia and should arrive in the spring of 2024. In the past, the Land Cruiser was powered by a naturally aspirated V-8 engine. With its redesign, however, Toyota has opted for a more modern powertrain - a turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid engine. Two electric motors assist the engine to offer four-wheel drive and 326 horsepower. Additionally, Waunakee drivers will find all Land Cruisers come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and tow about 6,000 pounds.
One of the standout features of previous Land Cruiser models was its off-road capability. Off-roading returns in the new Land Cruiser with a two-speed transfer case, allowing for operation in 4-Hi or 4-Lo. Also, a center-locking differential and an electronic-locking rear differential are available for maximum grip on most terrain in Sun Prairie. The Land Cruiser even has increased ground clearance at 8.7 inches, low-range gearing, and hill descent for better traversal.
Previously, the Land Cruiser was a three-row crossover with seating for eight. Now, the third row has been removed, leaving spacious seating for five. That being said, the new Toyota Land Cruiser still offers the same great features. While the base 1958 offers fewer luxuries than the other trims, it does offer good tech. These include heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a six-speaker stereo. The mid-range trims and limited-production First Edition have ventilated seats, 10-speaker stereos, and available leather upholstery. There's even a large, flat cargo area behind the rear seats. And rear seats can be folded for even more room.
Every new Land Cruiser model is equipped with great technology designed for your entertainment. Deforest shoppers can find amenities such as an eight-inch display in models like the base 1958 trim. In higher trim, though, a larger 12.3-inch monitor is available. Both displays feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, there are tech USB-C charging ports and a wireless smartphone charging pad as standard. A Premium Package for the Land Cruiser trim offers leather upholstery, a head-up display, 14-speaker JBL audio, and more.

As with most new Toyota models, the Land Cruiser has a generous list of standard driver-assistance features. In a suite called Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, Verona WI drivers will find many standard driving aids. These include lane-departure warning, automatic high-beam headlamps, and adaptive cruise control. There's also a feature called Proactive Driving Assist. This system can subtly help to slow the vehicle for curves and traffic while using adaptive cruise control.
